Join a Team That Helps People Live Safely and Independently at Home!
Are you skilled with your hands and looking for work that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives?
Home Independence Experts is seeking an Accessibility Equipment Installer to join our growing team. Our technicians install accessibility and mobility solutions that help older adults and people with disabilities remain safer, more independent, and more comfortable in their own homes.
This isn’t typical construction or handyman work. One day you may install a wheelchair ramp, the next a stair lift, grab bars, or a barrier-free shower. The common purpose behind every project is simple: helping people stay home. Other installs you could support are vertical platform lifts, ceiling lifts, handrails, curb-less showers, bathroom accessibility improvements, and other support inside and outside the home to help people stay safe, healthy, and independent.
About Us
We believe integrity means doing what’s right, even when it’s difficult or no one is watching. We are committed to uplifting everyone we serve and work alongside. We also believe that meaningful work shouldn’t require sacrificing your personal life. We do not operate as an emergency service company, and our technicians are not expected to take routine after-hours or weekend service calls.
Physical Duties
Work involves lifting, carrying, and positioning equipment, including items heavier than 50 pounds. Heavy or awkward items require coordinated teamwork, appropriate lifting equipment, or both. Duties may involve stairs, uneven ground, tight spaces, bending, kneeling, and indoor and outdoor work.
Key Responsibilities
Represent Home Independence Experts with professionalism and integrity
Professionally install accessibility and mobility equipment according to company and manufacturer standards and procedures
Complete residential accessibility modifications safely and accurately
Perform carpentry, assembly, repair, and installation work associated with accessibility projects
Work effectively with another technician as part of a team
Troubleshoot installation challenges and develop practical solutions
Properly maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and installation materials
Protect clients’ homes and maintain exceptionally clean and organized job sites
Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients and their families
Complete required job documentation and installation records
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in doing things correctly.
Experience in construction, remodeling, carpentry, equipment installation, maintenance, or a related trade is valuable. Previous experience specifically installing accessibility equipment is helpful but not required for the right candidate.
You should be comfortable learning specialized equipment, using power tools, following detailed manufacturer instructions, and adapting to different homes and installation conditions.
Requirements
Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
Ability to pass required background screening, drug screening, physical, and abilities assessment
Ability to safely lift, carry, position, assemble, and install construction materials and heavy accessibility equipment
Comfortable and proficient with hand and power tools
Use of smartphone with reliable internet access
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
Excellent attention to detail and workmanship
Professional communication and customer-service skills
Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Willingness to travel to client homes throughout assigned service areas
Strong commitment to safety, ethical conduct, and the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
Why This Work Matters
Our clients often come to us during significant transitions in their lives.
A wheelchair ramp isn’t simply a ramp. A stair lift isn’t simply another piece of equipment. An accessible shower isn’t simply a remodel.
The work you perform can determine whether someone can safely enter their home, use their bathroom, access another floor, or continue living independently.
We’re looking for people who take pride in excellent workmanship and understand that the quality of their work directly affects someone’s quality of life.
If you’re looking for skilled, hands-on work with a genuine purpose, we’d like to hear from you!
