Job Description: Exterior Siding Carpenter

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Siding Installer and Carpenter’s Assistant. In this role, you will assist with the installation and repair of various exterior siding materials, including vinyl, wood, fiber cement, and metal. You’ll work alongside skilled carpenters on a variety of exterior construction projects such as framing, rot repair, and window installation. Duties also include accurate measuring and cutting, installing trim and flashing, and preparing surfaces for new siding.

The position involves physical labor, working at heights, and operating hand and power tools. No prior experience is required, but a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work as part of a team are essential. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity based out of our Salem office, with early morning starts and primarily outdoor work. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a background check are required.

This is a temp-to-hire position, with the possibility of becoming permanent after 60 days.

Responsibilities:

• Installation and repair of various exterior siding materials, including but not limited to vinyl, wood, fiber cement, and metal.
• Collaborate as part of a team of carpenters and other skilled laborers to construct and install various exterior projects, including siding, framing, rot repair, and windows.
• Accurate measurement and cutting of siding materials to ensure proper fit and alignment.
• Installation of trim, flashing, and other necessary components for a complete and weathertight siding system.
• Removal of existing siding and preparation of surfaces for new siding installation.
• Working at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
• Additional carpentry tasks may include painting, roofing, and minor electrical and plumbing work.
• Adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
• Willing to learn new skills and help out in any tasks necessary.

Requirements:

• Physical Ability: Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and comfortably work at heights of 30 feet or more.
• Experience: Six months siding experience preferred. Experience driving a truck with a trailer.
• Skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools, including saws, nail guns, and measuring tools preferred. Ability to read a tape measure and provide accurate measurements up to 1/16th of an inch.
• Transportation: Must have reliable transportation and a working cell phone for communication. Clean driving record/insurable by company.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other tradespeople.
• Work Ethic: Must be punctual, reliable, and have a strong work ethic. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Long-Term Commitment: This position is ideal for individuals seeking a stable and long-term career in the construction industry.
• Background Check: State/federal background check required.

Additional Information:

• Early Mornings: Be prepared to meet at the company's Salem office at 6am each morning for job assignments and transportation to work sites.
• Compensation: This is an entry level position. Compensation is based on experience.
• Working Environment: The work environment is primarily outdoors with 75% of the time spent on exterior tasks and 25% on interior tasks.
