Pediatric Home Care RN Clinical Supervisor

BrightStar Care is seeking an experienced and compassionate Pediatric Home Care RN Clinical Supervisor to provide clinical leadership and oversight for our growing pediatric home care program.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pediatric RN who enjoys working in the field, supporting clinicians, partnering with families, and helping deliver exceptional care to medically fragile children in the comfort of their homes.

As the Pediatric Clinical Supervisor, you will serve as a trusted clinical leader for patients, families, and field staff. You will help ensure safe, high-quality, family-centered care while providing guidance and support to the nurses and clinicians who care for our pediatric patients.

What You'll Do

Clinical Leadership & Oversight

• Supervise, mentor, and support pediatric RNs, LPNs, therapists, and home health aides.
• Travel to patients' homes to conduct supervisory visits, clinical assessments, and competency evaluations.
• Review clinical documentation, Plans of Care, and physician orders for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Ensure care is provided in accordance with agency policies, state and federal regulations, Medicaid requirements, and applicable accreditation standards.
• Serve as a clinical resource and leader for complex and medically fragile pediatric patients.
• Provide ongoing clinical guidance to field clinicians and assist with complex patient-care decisions.

Care Coordination

• Develop, update, and monitor individualized Plans of Care based on each patient's clinical needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, hospitals, discharge planners, case managers, therapists, clinicians, and families to promote continuity of care.
• Monitor patient progress and make appropriate clinical recommendations or care-plan adjustments.
• Help ensure patients are matched with appropriately qualified clinicians based on their individual care needs and acuity.
• Support smooth transitions of care and assist with new case starts and changes in patient condition.

Staff Support & Development

• Assist with onboarding, orientation, and ongoing education for pediatric field staff.
• Provide training and competency support related to pediatric-specific clinical skills and procedures.
• Lead case conferences and promote ongoing professional development.
• Provide regular coaching, clinical guidance, and support to nurses working in patients' homes.
• Participate in performance evaluations and address clinical or performance concerns as needed.
• Help foster a collaborative, accountable, and supportive clinical team.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Conduct clinical chart reviews and documentation audits.
• Monitor care delivery, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in internal and external audits, surveys, and compliance reviews.
• Track clinical outcomes and quality indicators, including hospitalizations, critical incidents, and patient/family satisfaction.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and help implement quality initiatives.
• Promote consistent adherence to clinical standards, policies, and best practices.

Patient & Family Support

• Build strong, trusting relationships with pediatric patients and their families.
• Educate parents and caregivers regarding Plans of Care, clinical needs, safety, and available resources.
• Provide clinical guidance and oversight for higher-acuity pediatric cases, including patients with:
  • Tracheostomies
  • Ventilators
  • G-tubes
  • Seizure disorders
  • Complex medical conditions
  • Other skilled and high-acuity care needs
• Serve as a dependable clinical resource for families navigating complex home care needs.

Field & Operational Support

• Travel throughout the assigned service area to complete patient visits, supervisory visits, and clinical evaluations.
• Work closely with scheduling and clinical teams to ensure appropriate staffing for each case.
• Assist with new case starts, case expansions, and changes in patient care needs.
• Support referral coordination and the continued growth of the pediatric home care program.
• Participate in an after-hours/on-call rotation as needed based on agency needs.

Qualifications

Required

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Minimum 2–3 years of pediatric nursing experience.
• Strong understanding of pediatric clinical standards and home care requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned service area.
• Ability to work independently while remaining connected to the clinical and operational team.
• Compassion, patience, and professionalism when working with medically fragile children and their families.

Preferred

• Previous clinical supervisory experience in home health or private duty nursing.
• Experience with pediatric private duty nursing and/or Medicaid waiver programs.
• Experience with home care EMR/EHR systems.
• Experience caring for high-acuity pediatric patients, including tracheostomy, ventilator, G-tube, or seizure management.

Work Environment

This is a 100% field-based clinical leadership position.

• Regular travel to patients' homes throughout the assigned service area
• In-home supervisory visits and clinical evaluations
• Local travel between patient cases
• Independent field work with support from the BrightStar Care clinical and operational teams
• Collaboration with families, physicians, clinicians, and referral partners
• After-hours/on-call participation as needed
