Experienced Caregiver

Homewatch CareGivers of Elmhurst is focused on building relationships with their clientele and families. Each client's care plan is customized, allowing the flexibility to match the care provided to the exact needs of each client, whether the client needs companion care or complex personal care. We are searching for mature caregivers that can build positive and healthy relationships with our clients, while meeting their needs as those needs change over time.

Role Overview:

As a Caregiver at Homewatch CareGivers of Elmhurst, you will be responsible for providing compassionate and supportive care to clients living with various conditions such as Parkinson's, dementia, diabetes, etc. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with our care coordination team to ensure that each client's unique needs are met while promoting their independence and dignity. You must be a good listener and be invested in your client's mental well-being as well as their physical well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide personal care and support for clients with dementia, ensuring their comfort and safety.
2. Assist clients with daily living activities including meal preparation, medication reminders, and companionship.
3. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to coordinate care and support.
4. Adapt care routines according to each client's evolving needs and preferences.
5. Maintain accurate records of care provided and report changes in client condition to the care team.

Qualifications:

You're a great fit if you have the following skills.

1. Experience or training in caregiving, specifically with those client with dementia.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to communicate with those who are totally or mostly non-verbal.
3. Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism.
4. Understanding of dementia care practices and procedures.

Bonus If You:

1. Have experience working in a home care setting.
2. Possess additional certifications related to caregiving or dementia care.
3. Speak a language other than English.

Employment Type & Availability:

This is a Full Time position available 7 days per week. We are looking to staff 24/7 cases in 12 hour shifts as well as local short shifts. Potential for overtime.

Location:

This position is on-site only. Our territory ranges from Oakbrook Terrace on the south side up through Elmhurst, Villa Park, Lombard, Bensenville, Addison, and Itasca (including Wood Dale and Medinah). We also explore open territories in Des Plaines, Norridge, Elmwood Park, Chicago Dunning, and even Berkeley. You should live within a 30 minute drive of Elmhurst if you are looking for short shifts (1-6 hours), or about 45 min if you are looking for 7-12+ hour shifts and live-ins.
