Assistant Manager

At Uptown Cheapskate, we buy,sell, and trade brands for the fashion forward young adult population. We are seeking strong management candidates to join our team.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and price inventory using our buying software
• Manage inventory fills, markdowns and merchandising.
• Manage our team of 20-25 people along with another assistant manager, store manager and with active owner involvement.
• Can give direction with follow up, manages firmly but kindly, demonstrate good grasp of all jobs and be willing to jump in and assist sales associates where needed.
• Willing to train buyers and sales associates along with other managers as training is a huge part of the job.
• Understands this job is a sales floor job and involves very little administration work.
• Has the ability to learn the business and see priority tasks needing to be done to assure retail sales and buys continue to meet established goals.
• Able to take feedback from mentor and willing to use feedback to develop skills.
• Run our boutique with passion and drive
• All managers must be willing to step in when call outs threaten ability of the store to operate smoothly due to call outs. Must be willing to share responsibility of shift coverage with manager when needed.
• Able to help manage payroll, assure smooth flow of store operations by demonstrating, teaching and mentoring all employees on desired work efficiencies.
• Willing to communicate clearly and professionally the needs, desires, strengths, weaknesses and concerns as they apply to employees and the business functioning.
• Must understand their role is to be an extension of the owner and to be able to implement the vision of this already successful business model.
• Potential candidates must have the ability to draw a line between being a manager and being the employees friend. This is necessary to develop a level of respect towards the manager as respect is key to being a good manager.

Prefer candidates from high volume, fast paced retail and/or restaurant environments and significant stable employment in these environments. Experience in resale buying and management is a huge plus.

Position is 30- 40 hours a week, requires open availability and weekend work. If you have experience managing a similar concept, we really want to talk to you and would be willing to negotiate for experience.
