Interior Painter

Job Summary

Providence Construction Group is seeking an experienced, reliable painter to work for a general contractor focused on single family and multifamily project management.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

1. Communicating with manager to determine painting needs for projects
2. Assembling scaffolding or setting up ladders as required
3. Covering trim, floors, furniture, and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint
4. Setting up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect Painters from unhealthy fumes
5. Preparing surfaces to be painted by washing them, filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding them until they’re smooth
6. General drywall patching/texture matching
7. Light carpentry patching, repairs, and installation
8. Applying primer and other sealers to paint surfaces to ensure that paint sticks to them
9. Mixing and matching paint, stain, and other finishes to job specifications
10. Applying paint, stain and other finishes to paint surfaces using paintbrushes, rollers, or sprayers
11. Maintaining an inventory of supplies like paint brushes, rollers, and tarps
12. Removing old finish using scrapers or chemical compounds
13. Estimating time and material costs on painting projects
14. Cleaning brushes, machines, equipment, and work areas using water, solvents, and other cleaning aids
15. Reviewing and implementing work orders and assignments
16. Removing and reinstalling fixtures (e.g., doorknobs, electric switch covers) as necessary
17. Following safeguards, rules, and regulations

Candidate Qualifications:

1. Experience using basic painting tools and materials
2. Comfortable working at heights of 20+ feet
3. Attention to detail
4. Physical strength, stamina, and dexterity
5. Time management skills to ensure tasks are completed on schedule
6. Excellent communication skills and able to speak clearly, follow directions, use common sense, be respectful & polite
7. Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from manager
8. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities while maintaining professionalism and strong rapport with team members
9. Ability to lift 50-75 pounds frequently
10. Must have a clean driving record and qualify as a driver on company insurance policy
11. Must be comfortable and competent in pulling and parking a trailer
12. Must value workplace safety and follow safe work practices and procedures at all times
