Lead Caregiver

Job Summary

The Lead Caregiver provides high-level caregiving support while serving as a dependable, go-to resource for urgent, last-minute, and hard-to-fill shifts. This role requires exceptional flexibility, the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs, and comfort responding to short-notice requests. The Lead Caregiver consistently presents a confident, professional image and represents the company with integrity in every client interaction. In addition to delivering quality care for clients with complex needs, this role supports the office by modeling reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to the company’s mission of exceptional in-home care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, hands-on care to clients with complex or critical needs.
• Cover open, urgent, or last-minute shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Adapt quickly to schedule changes and evolving client needs.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, bathing, grooming, and toileting.
• Prepare meals, support special diets, and perform light housekeeping.
• Provide authorized transportation for appointments and errands.
• Support medication reminders and nurse-delegated tasks per policy.
• Engage clients through companionship and daily activities.
• Document care accurately and timely in electronic systems.
• Communicate proactively with the office regarding client changes or care concerns.
• Represent the company with professionalism and confidence.
• Participate in quarterly quality improvement meetings as a caregiver representative.

Essential Functions (Required with or without reasonable accommodation)

• Reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance; ability to work assigned schedules essential to client safety
• Ability to perform all listed physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, navigating stairs, and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in unpredictable home environments, including exposure to pets, odors, allergens, clutter, and varying temperatures
• Ability to read, understand, and follow care plans and written/oral instructions
• Ability to maintain professionalism, exercise sound judgment, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to complete required documentation during or immediately after each shift
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and ability to travel between client homes (if driving is assigned)
• Ability to comply with all company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact well with different types of clients and co-workers in a productive and positive manner

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• CNA preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred
• At least 2 years of caregiving experience, including critical care or high-need clients
• Ability to complete state‑mandated training
• Understanding of HIPAA and company confidentiality obligations
• Successful completion of background and reference checks

Working Conditions

• Work occurs in private homes with variable cleanliness, temperature, noise, clutter, and presence of pets or other individuals
• Exposure to household allergens, chemicals, or other common substances
